We are a growing community of Board-certified surgeons who believe you play like you practice. Our mission is to help you get the reps and insight you need to pass the Oral Boards.

Caliber helped me prepare very well for my oral boards so I love paying it forward in teaching new surgeons. Caliber is special because it provides those studying for oral boards with high-yield content and real-time personalized feedback.

I firmly believe that Caliber more than adequately prepares candidates for the Certifying Exam as it delivers not only high-yield content but also emphasizes the critical component of oral board performance. Nothing is more effective preparing for the certifying exam than putting yourself on the hot seat countless times and mastering your delivery. That’s where Caliber stands out, and I’m proud to be a part of it.

The oral board examination is one of the most intimidating exams that we take as general surgeons; this is because it is different than any other exam we have ever taken. It requires you to process information quickly and efficiently while being able to communicate your thoughts in a cohesive manner. Caliber provides the best way to prepare: practice in a simulated environment to build on your existing skills with individualized feedback.
Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about our platform.
Every mock oral session includes 4 high-quality, SCORE-based scenarios conducted over 30 minutes followed by 10-30 minutes of feedback by a Board-certified examiner. You’ll also get access to the video recording of the session, a 1-page high-yield summary of each scenario, and Performance Metrics letting you know how your performance compares to your peers’. If you book 3 or more sessions, you’ll also get access to nearly 80 Operative Descriptions for the oral boards.
They are Board-certified surgeons who have a passion for teaching, plain and simple. Some have years of experience while others recently passed their exam. One thing is for sure: we guarantee their quality or your next session is on us!
It depends on your level of readiness for this uniquely challenging exam. Most candidates schedule at least 5 sessions. Some also schedule back-to-back sessions to simulate the real exam. Performance Metrics® after each mock oral session will inform you of how well you are performing compared to your peers. We can also put together a custom curriculum (# and timing of sessions) for you based on an initial assessment with one of our senior examiners. Don’t wait - book your first session ASAP and go from there!
What better way to determine your readiness for the exam than to see how your performance compares to your peers’. We provide Performance Metrics® for every scenario and every session as a whole. While examiner feedback is essential, it’s ultimately subjective, whereas our Performance Metrics® are based on the number of answer choices you got compared to your peers, providing an objective score.
Yes, we do. We’re a bunch of surgeons who understand how expensive it is to prepare for the Boards; therefore, allowing candidates to pay relatively small amounts per month (e.g. $25/month for our 5-session Bulk Package) essentially wipes out this cost burden and makes Caliber accessible to everyone who wants the practice.
As soon as you schedule a session, our team immediately goes to work lining up your examiner. Once we confirm your examiner, we send you a confirmation email. For sessions booked weeks or months in advance, we typically assign an examiner 2-7 days in advance, which is when you’ll get the confirmation email.
We recognize surgeons’ schedules can be unpredictable, so we do our best to accommodate last minute changes. That said, we still compensate our examiners if their sessions are canceled within 12 hours of their scheduled start. Hence, if a session is rescheduled or canceled within 12 hours, there’s a $50 fee that goes directly to the examiner (we don’t make a cent, promise). We will on occasion waive this cancellation fee for extenuating circumstances.
We recommend that you sign into your Caliber account at least a day before your first session and go to the Device Settings Tab to ensure your audio/video are working correctly. If you have a technical issue during your session, you can connect directly to our technical team by using the blue chat box on the bottom right of your screen.
